The Corvallis School District (509J) budget is increasing, student enrollment is decreasing, yet they demand new taxes. 509J already has generous funding--but management is spending it on the wrong things. Far too much is squandered on overhead employees and benefits. In fact, 509J can hire 59 more teachers within the existing budget. | |

Parents want better academic performance of our students by hiring more teachers, but 509J management has squandered millions of dollars by instead hiring more overhead employees. Money spent on overhead growth could have been used to hire 47 more classroom teachers. |
| We all want reasonable benefits for school employees, but 509J has gone too far in supplying gold plated benefits that cost far more than the national K-12 average. If Corvallis paid benefits at the national average rate of $11.03 per hour of work rather than the $17.81 they actually pay, $5.5 million would be available to improve academics. |
509J does not need a new tax. 509J needs to cut benefit and overhead costs!
